In spite of persisting with a two hub system for a long time, Air India has not turned the corner. Its two hubs are Mumbai and New Delhi. Lately New Delhi is getting the bulk of new flights. But these permutations have not worked. Prudence demands that when one experiment fails, the other possibility must be explored. Sticking to rigid policies does not pay in businesses.

India has its unique scenarios and unique situations need unique solutions. India has a few states, which are called Non Resident Indian dominated (NRI) states. These are Kerala, Punjab and Gujarat. The Keralite Indians are mostly based in the Persian Gulf region consisting of Dubai, Muskat, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. The Gujaratis are mostly concentrated in South Africa, England, America, Canada and East Africa. The Punjabis are scattered all over the world, but their largest concentrations are in the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Australia, the Gulf states  and the USA. Air India being the national flag carrier of India, must make its policies flexible to serve those destinations from where they migrated and to those airports where they live.
